Last weekend we were celebrating a friend’s 75th birthday down in the New Forest. As there were so many of us, three campervans and a tiny caravan Pod met up at Lytton Lawn Campsite near Milton On Sea.
We left home around 13.00 on the Friday afternoon and had a dreadful drive down through torrential rain and Friday afternoon traffic. At least the rain stopped by the time we arrived and it turned into a blustery but dry evening. As we were getting ourselves set up on our pitch, we found we had a stowaway!

We went round to our friends for a lovely meal and catch up ahead of the proper celebration the next day.

Saturday morning was a relaxed affair as our taxi didn’t pick us up to go to The Jetty restaurant in Christchurch Bay until midday. We had a wonderful meal overlooking Christchurch Bay.

After such a sumptuous meal, we needed a walk before our next stop at The Captain’s Table in Christchurch itself. This was meant to be by boat up the river but Storm Amy had other ideas so it was another taxi ride. Once we were there, despite all the lovely food on offer, we could only manage a cup of tea and another walk!

After that, it was another taxi ride to Westbourne for an evening’s entertainment at a quirky private cinema. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was the film of choice and what a treat to have the place to ourselves.

Next day tuned out to be sunny with a lot less wind so a walk in the New Forest was in order.

Sunday roast completed a lovely day and a wonderful weekend.
