How could neither of us have been before to Monet’s house and gardens at Giverny before? It was an omission we were determined to rectify. Our overnight stop in the Giverny car park was quiet and uneventful despite the number of vans there.
We got to the gardens around 10.00 the next morning (Tuesday September 16) and it was still busy with queues to get to the Lily Pond and the House. However, the sun was shining and we were in no rush so we ambled along and waited our turn. The gardens were sensational even at this time of year and the house rammed full of Monet’s paintings.

We left Giverny around 13.00 to continue north to Honfleur, our final stop before catching the ferry home.
